Navigating the Second Chance Scholarship Process: A Comprehensive Guide
Second Chance Scholarship is intended for individuals who have overcome significant personal challenges to further their education in addition to having financial need.
The program’s objective is to provide incentives to individuals who show initiative and a desire to become self-sufficient through education. Academic achievement also earns recipients rewards; the higher your grades, the greater the incentive.
Brilliant low-income kids from all over the world face the risk of falling behind each year—not because they lack talent, but rather because they cannot afford to admission to colleges. Until Second Chance does something about it.
Second Chance Scholarship Foundation:
- feels that every young person has potential and can succeed if given the chance.
- academically can develop into knowledgeable, accountable, and useful members of society.
- acknowledges that the largest obstacles to realizing and obtaining a higher education for young people involved in the criminal justice system are poverty and/or harmful influences.
- is dedicated to offering scholarships to young people who have run afoul of the law or are at risk of doing so. These scholarships will offer the support required to finish a post-secondary course of study or a trade.
Eligibility for Second Chance Scholarship
- The candidate needs to be a senior in high school right now.
- A teacher, counselor, caseworker, or other unrelated adult who knows the applicant’s character, dedication to academic or creative pursuits, participation in social justice or community activities, and the noteworthy obstacles they have surmounted must nominate or suggest them.
- Candidates should demonstrate ability in overcoming hardship.
- Participate actively in school events, volunteer work, community organizations, and/or leadership roles.
- As of the scholarship award date, they want to graduate by July of the currently planned graduation date.
- After graduation, plan to enroll in a continuing education course, college, university, or vocational school.
Award
Five winners will receive $1,000 each. Your school receives the money for books or tuition. Schools must be listed in the CHEA directory or approved accreditation list.
Winner Notification
Within 14 business days following the contest’s conclusion, winners will be notified via phone or email. You must: Respond to the email or call within ten days.
Send a copy of your birth certificate, U.S. passport, or green card as proof of eligibility.
Provide proof of citizenship from your home nation as well, if required.
Two forms of identification must be sent.
How to Apply for Second Chance Scholarship
- nomination or suggestion from an unrelated adult, caseworker, counselor, or teacher.
- Show that you are dedicated to your artistic or intellectual pursuits.
- Show that you have intentions to continue your study after graduation.
Applications for the Second Chances Fund are accepted from September 1 through November 30 of every year. The scholarship recipients will be revealed by February of the subsequent year at the latest.
Selection Process
Scholars will be chosen on the basis of their academic achievement, backgrounds, challenges they have faced, overall objectives, and the reasons they believe they would be a suitable fit for a Second Chance Scholarship.
