Because “A&M” can refer to multiple universities, you must indicate the Texas A&M University system university you are interested in for specific merit scholarship information, such as the flagship Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, or West Texas A&M University. Merit scholarships are typically offered based on high school achievements, which may include GPA and, in certain cases, SAT/ACT scores, and applications are frequently submitted using the university’s online application site or the ApplyTexas system.

Texas A&M does not stack Academic Scholarships to ensure that the maximum number of students have access to scholarship possibilities. If you qualify for multiple Academic Scholarships, our office will only offer you the scholarship with the highest dollar value.
Award
Academic scholarships are four-year prizes. To continue earning your scholarship, you must complete the qualifying conditions each year.
University-specific programs
Texas A&M University (College Station): Out-of-state students can apply for programs such as the Maroon Merit Award, and university and college-specific scholarships are available through the ApplyTexas application.
West Texas A&M University (WTAMU): Offers bigger merit scholarship packages to top-performing freshman, with the option to renew rewards for up to four years.
Texas A&M University-Kingsville uses the Javelina Scholarships system to grant first-time college merit scholarships based on a priority date.
How to Apply for the A&M Merit Scholarships
Use the Common App to apply. To be considered, you need to finish the scholarship and admissions requirements. To be eligible for freshman scholarships, students must additionally submit a Self-Reported Transcript Academic Record (STAR).
